High on Hope are one of the favourite
Sound Systems that attract young people at Carnival.
This is due to
their skill in teaching young people to work as a
team, learning the basics of mixing, scratching,
equipment use and application. Offering a social and
educational impact, young people get the chance to
use their creativity on stage as well as in the
studio, where participants are offered the
opportunity to develop their aims and aspirations in
relation to music production. The mechanics of
running the ‘HIGH on HOPE’ Record Label gives
inspiration and motivation to young people to
explore their natural talents whilst embracing their
cultural identity through the language of music and
media. High on Hope achieves this through support
and encouragement into training and education to
acquire the life skills needed to assist young
people’s growth to full maturity as individuals and
as members of society. The High on Hope Sound has
been associated with Carnival since 1992 and at its
current location since 1994.
